We are delighted to announce that, in December 2022, we were awarded two new BAFE accreditations.
We are now BAFE certified for the following Fire Protection services:
- BS5839 Fire Alarms
- BS5266 Emergency Lighting
- BS5306 Fire Extinguishers
- BS5499 Fire Safety Signage
To be BAFE Certified is a big deal in our industry, and the process to be awarded the accreditation is extremely thorough and intense.
So, why does it mean to much to be BAFE Certified and why should you ensure your Fire Protection Provider is BAFE Certified?
BAFE stands for British Approvals for Fire Equipment and they provide an independent verification process to ensure that UK Fire Companies are meeting all the standards they need to so that their customers can be reassured that they:
(a) Know what they are doing
(b) Proactively follow all guidance
(c) Provide a high quality service
To be awarded a their Certificate, Fire Providers must demonstrate that they meet an exacting set of comprehensive competency requirements (known as the BAFE Scheme). According to BAFE themeselves:
“[The Scheme] has been developed to incorporate the high quality standards and best working practice for services within the fire safety industry.”
To become a BAFE Fire Protection Provider is not for the faint hearted. It requires commitment and nerves of steel as you are observed carrying out specific tasks on site as well as having your paperwork scrutinised. For us though, it was exciting. We know that everything we do is by-the-book and we have own set of standards that we adhere to! Quality of service, workmanship and customer service is paramount to every call out and job we complete.
When you use a BAFE Certified Provider, you are certain that, from design to installation and maintenance, that you getting an impeccable service and that all of your health & safety responsibilities, with regard to fire extinguishers, fire alarms and emergency lighting, are being met.
When you use a BAFE contractor you know that you are in safe hands (and any such provider is regularly reassessed so are always assured of the service your will receive)
“Organisations are only permitted to become BAFE registered and appear on the national BAFE Fire Safety Register whilst they hold the appropriate/valid third-party certification and continue to meet the criteria of the relevant BAFE Scheme (checked via regular assessments, usually performed on an annual basis).
